Yifan(Billy) Duan is a junior solicitor at Auslaw Partners. Yifan(Billy) practices in the Commercial, Corporate and Dispute Division of the firm. In particular, he has experience in corporate dispute, debt recovery and insolvency. Yifan(Billy) is perseverant, proactive and passionate for law and about providing quality legal services. He prides himself for being a good communicator and compassionate while sparing no effort to advocate for individuals and businesses to achieve favorable outcomes. Prior to joining Auslaw Partners, Yifan(Billy) gained experience working as a law clerk for a renowned boutique law firm in Gold Coast and later as an assistant to a barrister who specializes in commercial litigation. Yifan(Billy) is extremely proficient in both English and Chinese. After had his secondary education in English, he worked as a translator for an industrial manufacturer and an English tutor. He has strong interpersonal and leadership skills through participating in team sports and being a leader of student communities. He is actively involved in the community and founded a student volunteer community that provided care and assistance to nursing homes and children with disadvantages. He is also a proud member of Volunteering Gold Coast.

  • Acted in the Federal Court of Australia for the plaintiffs, who are investors/shareholders in complex residential buildings development projects that are valued more than $10 millions.
  • Acted for small business owner in a District Court defamation proceeding for disparaging materials published on WeChat.
  • Acted for clients in various shareholder and corporate disputes.
  • Acted for a client in a building and construction dispute for overdue invoices rendered.
  • Acted for clients in various debt recovery matters for verbal or written loan agreements, services rendered, overdue rent. Damages ranged from $10,000.00 to $500,000.00.
  • Acted for investors for investments made in Australian companies in attempts to apply for various permanent residency visas. Claims were based on misleading and deceptive conducts due to the companies’ poor financial circumstances.
  • Acted for clients in the Magistrate Court of Queensland for contraventions of the Food Act 2006 and the Food Standard Code.
  • Assisted clients in the preparation of various agreements, including loan agreements, shareholder agreements, share subscription agreements, company buy back agreements, profit sharing agreements.
  • Assisted senior solicitors in advising and assisting the leasing of a retirement village unit.
  • Assisting clients with the purchase of an Australia Licensed Post Office.
